The graphics are amazing and the environmental effects are super. Would have wanted more options for creating my character. The game really does have a big story mode, it’s more like the better you do it, the more upgrades you can do. The game makes you track missions on your own and decide what to do. The tutorials make you feel like you know what you’re doing and that’s a good thing.

You’ll learn how to set up rods for float, spinning and bottom fishing, and how to adjust the resistance of the line and your reel speed. They do a fairly good job of explaining the basics with hand-on exercises that you need to master. The first few hours are full of tutorials that may or may not annoy you. There’s only one pair of pants, for example, though you can have them in three colors and that’s basically what you can do.

There's a lot to keep track of in Fishing Planet, such as which bait to use to snatch certain fish, the rod or reel that'll help you get a bigger and better catch, the time of day and type of weather that allows for the best bites, etc. Players buy fishing licenses in order to travel to such exotic places as Missouri, the Czech Republic, or Alberta, and then try to complete various missions to get more credits or the alternate currency called 'Baitcoin' to buy gear, bait, and more licenses.
